MARLBOROUGH, MA- The hunt for Marlborough's newest elementary school's principal is nearly over. The district has narrowed the list down to just two finalists and will hold a forum for the public to get to know them.

On Thursday, Feb. 28, a forum will be held from 7-8 p.m. in Jaworek Elementary School for parents and residents to meet and talk to the principal finalists, Amy Mulkerin and Julie Vincentsen. Both candidates have experience in the education field serving as principals or assistant principals in Massachusetts schools.

Mulkerin has been the assistant principal at the Charlotte A. Dunning Elementary School in Framingham since 2015. She previously worked as an elementary school teacher for 13 years in Framingham and Endicott, NY. Mulkerin served as the Special Education Team Chair in Grafton for two years as well.

Vincentsen holds a Masters in Organizational Management from Endicott College, a Masters in Education in Secondary Social Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelors in Political Science from the College of Wooster in Ohio.

The new elementary school will be the district's fourth and construction of the school began in July on the Poirier Road site. The $56.4 million price tag on the project was alleviated by the Massachusetts School Building Authority's $29 million reimbursement.

The new school will have over 30 classrooms for up to 610 students. The additional space will allow the district to shift the fifth graders back into the elementary schools. The school is set to open in the fall of 2020.

The snow date for the forum is Mar. 6.
