Oxford Immunotec revenue up 41 percent

Oxford Immunotec, a diagnostics company with U.S. headquarters in Marlborough, reported Tuesday continued strong sales in its third quarter, while still experiencing an overall loss.

Third quarter revenue was up 41 percent compared with a year earlier, with the company crediting continued strong sales in the U.S. and an uptick in its Asian market for the revenue rise.

Revenue was $17.9 million for the quarter, which ended Sept. 30, compared with $13.3 million in the third quarter of 2014. This was a 41 percent increase in constant-currency calculations, which excludes the impact of fluctuations in foreign currency exchange rates.

Sales exceeded expectations, according to the company.

Net loss for the third quarter was $4.5 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $6.1 million, or 35 cents per share, in the third quarter of 2014.

Oxford Immunotec, with headquarters in Oxford, England, as well as Marlborough, focuses on developing tests for the management of immune-regulated conditions.
