MARLBOROUGH – A five-story, 153-room Hilton Garden Inn is on track to open in May at Marlborough Hills, a growing mixed-use development at the former Hewlett-Packard campus.

Construction on the new hotel, in the northeast corner of the parcel, began in December. In the past 11 months, crews have poured the foundation, erected the steel frame of the building and are  installing windows, said Joe Zink, president of Atlantic Management.

Over the winter, crews will conduct much of the interior work, said Zink, who is marketing Marlborough Hills.

“I think they’re in pretty good shape,” he said.

The hotel, which Zink said is the first to be built in Marlborough in a decade, will feature a restaurant with outdoor seating, a pool, gym area and meeting rooms.

Zink expects crews will begin building a new 10,000-square-foot day care center shortly.

Mammoth Development Co. LLC received approval in the summer to build a new Learning Experience Child Development Center. The organization, which operates 150 schools across the country, will feature outdoor playgrounds and classrooms that will house a total of 180 children, said Zink.

The day care center will provide a much-needed amenity to employees of the nearby GE Healthcare Life Sciences and Quest Diagnostics, said Zink.

A 350-unit Avalon Bay apartment complex was also recently completed on the site. Located on the west side of the 110-acre development, the apartment complex features three-story and four-story buildings with lofts on the upper levels and more traditional one-and two-bedroom apartments on the lower floors, said Zink.

Zink is also eyeing restaurants and shops to round out the campus.

“That will probably evolve in the next couple months,” he said. “We want good quality retailers. We’ve been very patient waiting for the right retailers. It’s the last piece of the puzzle.”

When completed, Marlborough Hills will provide a campus feel where residents can walk from their homes to work, dinner and stores.

“You have it all in one spot,” said Zink.
